Volume of “Sharpiegate” coverage by U.S. news sources, Sept. 4-10, 2019.
The data come from the GDELT 2.0 API.
The pop-up windows shows a sampling of news articles from each moment in time on the graph. The “Export” link in the upper-right provides a variety of options for downloading the data. To be included, a story must have originated with a U.S. news outlet (GDELT covers non-U.S. outlets as well), must include “Trump,” and also must include the words “map” and “altered” within 20 words of each other. The Y axis values are percentages of all news items captured by GDELT in the given time period. The X axis represents time.
For comparison, here’s the same chart, but one that uses a broader search: “Trump,” and the words “Dorian” and “Alabama” within 20 words of each other.
